🌹 Consignment Vendor FAQ 🌹

🌹 Are your vendor applications currently open?

At this time, Nevermore is accepting applications for handmade gothic clothing, scented candles, and press-on nails only. However, we open a general call for vendors once or twice a year, depending on our available space! We will also post specific vendor calls as needed. If you are interested in vending with us, please keep an eye on our socials for vendor calls or subscribe to our monthly newsletter, The Nevermore Nightshade!

If you are a gothic clothing, scented candle, or press-on nail artist, you can find our vendor application link here!

🌹 What are you looking for in a vendor application?

Nevermore is a gothic boutique, and we are seeking vendors who share a similar gothic aesthetic. In addition, we are specifically looking for handmade, sustainable, and ethically sourced items.

🌹 Do you accept out of state vendors?

Yes! We currently accept vendors from all over the US, however, we like to prioritize local makers when possible.

*We are only accepting vendors based within the US at this time.

🌹What is Nevermore’s stance on artwork made using generative AI?

Nevermore is unequivocally opposed to the use of generative “AI” technology in any form - whether through image generation programs or large language models. This extends beyond the artwork itself and includes the use of AI in any way for ideation/brainstorming, reference materials, advertising, social media, and any part of the creative or business process. We reserve the right to refuse any artwork submitted for gallery exhibition should we have reason to believe that the artist has used generative AI in any part of their process.

🌹 Is your store by consignment only or do you buy wholesale?

Nevermore is currently by consignment only, however, we are willing to discuss wholesale for handmade gothic clothing.

🌹 What does consignment mean?

Consignment is a mutually beneficial partnership between the consignor (you) and an authorized seller (us). We sell your work on your behalf at our store, splitting the profits with you. Once your item has sold, we pay you via check.

🌹 Are there legal documents that need to be signed to become a vendor?

Once accepted, we require all vendors to read and sign a Consignment Agreement Contract, Inventory Intake Form, and Payment Information Form. We also ask that you read through our Policies & Expectations Sheet.

🌹 How much is the commission percentage?

We offer a 60% of selling price commission to you, the vendor. We retain 40% of the selling price to cover our overhead costs.

🌹 Who owns the items before sale?

You do! Until your items sell or your contract is terminated (by either or both parties), they are still yours, just housed in our shop.

🌹 Can vendors sell their work elsewhere? In other local Richmond stores? Online?

Yes! Nevermore has no exclusivity clauses. Our mission is to support other working artists, especially local to the Richmond area, and we’re happy to allow our vendors the freedom to sell their work wherever they like. If possible, we ask that you offer a curated selection for our store that differs from other stores.

🌹 Who sets the selling price for the items?

You, the consignor, will set all your own prices for your work sold on consignment at Nevermore. We’re happy to provide guidance based on our own experience, or to let you know if there’s customer feedback about pricing, but you are the best judge of what your work is worth.

🌹After Acceptance Policies & Guidelines FAQ🌹

🌹 Are vendors able to pick up their items anytime?

We require that our vendors keep their merchandise in-store either until they sell or 90 days after their drop-off date, whichever comes first.

We keep an open line of communication with all of our vendors, and if an item hasn’t sold in 6 weeks after being dropped off, we’ll check in with you to see to see if you’d like your items returned to you or if you’d like to discount the item, but we will never discount an item without checking in first.

🌹 Who is responsible for picking up items once the contract has been terminated?

If you are local to the Richmond area, you are responsible for picking up any unsold items within 30 days of the contract termination date.

If you are not local to the Richmond area, then we will ship the item back to you within 30 days of the contract termination date.

🌹 When and how will I get paid?

We pay our vendors their percentage of sales monthly, on the 5th of the month. Payment is processed via check and available for pickup in person at Nevermore, or mailed to you at an address you provide to us.

🌹 If I’m not local to the Richmond area, can I mail my items to sell at Nevermore?

Yes! Items must be mailed with signature confirmation required. Additional mailing details will be included in your vendor acceptance email.

🌹 Who is responsible for insuring the items against damages and loss?

If you are not local to the Richmond area and you are shipping your items to us, you are responsible for insuring them against damages incurred during shipment. If we are shipping expired items that didn’t sell back to you, we will insure them for the values listed on your inventory sheet. Nevermore carries general business insurance that will cover items in the shop in case of vandalism or catastrophic damage at their listed values, but we recommend securing additional coverage for particularly valuable items.

🌹 Once I’ve been accepted, how do I prepare my items for sale?

To make everything as efficient as possible, before dropping off or shipping us your items, please ensure you’ve done the following:

  1. Make sure items are clean, presentable, and have any displays needed included with them (displays should also be marked with your name)

  2. Items have been tagged for sale with a price tag (either hang tag or sticker is fine).

*We have examples of retail tags we will send to you upon acceptance.

  3. A new Inventory Drop-off Form has been filled out and either included as a hard copy with the items or sent digitally via email to info@nevermoreva.com. Please make sure that any items with multiple variants, such as different colorways, sizes, materials, etc., are listed on separate lines.

🌹 What is Nevermore doing to help my items sell?

In addition to being directly next door to world-renowned tattoo studio Unkindness Art, Nevermore will, to the best of our ability, advertise all of our vendors’ work on our social media pages and monthly newsletter, as well as in-person cross-promotion at community events and neighborhood activities.

❤️ We view this as a collaborative process with our vendors - we’ll do our part, and we hope that our vendors are also excited to be a part of Nevermore and will cross-promote as well. To help you with this, we’ll be putting together marketing packages to help showcase your work in our space, and will provide our vendors with ready-made social media post templates where applicable. Please let us know if there’s anything additional we can do to help promote you!
